Proud Camden (Londres) accueille l’exposition
« Phantasmagoria », photographies de Marco Sanges

Après plusieurs expos axées sur les légendes du rock, Proud Camden accueille pour près de deux mois l’univers particulier, énigmatique et charnel du photographe cinéaste italien Marco Sanges. Né à Rome, l’artiste pluridisciplinaire vit à Londres. Son style s’est illustré dans la mode, il a notamment collaboré avec Agent Provocateur, Dolce & Gabbana, Vogue Italia, Elle, Harpers Bazaar… Il est considéré comme l’un des photographes les plus novateurs du moment.

Avec « Phantasmagoria », Marco Sanges nous invite au voyeurisme, à la décadence. Il invente des images sensuelles et joue avec l’imagination qui transgresse les tabous. L’atmosphère, la composition des scènes, les modèles et les somptueux monochromes imposent le style cinématographique dans le travail de l’artiste. Chaque image pourrait être la photo de presse d’un film  noir ou surréaliste des années 20 ou 30. Certaines oeuvres rappellent aussi l’univers richement esthétique et malsain de Kubrick.
Sanges crée l’image et le spectateur invente le reste… L’exposition présente de grands tirages, des collaborations avec Agent Provocateur et une installation créée en phase avec le lieu, ancien hôpital équestre de Camden Town.

26th July – 30th September 2012After exhibitions focusing on legends of rock, Proud Camden will host for nearly two months the enigmatic, cinematic and sensual universe of Italian photographer and experimental film maker Marco Sanges.The artist is a man of many talents. Born in Rome, now based in London, his theatrical vision and award-winning work,both has regarded him as one of the most innovative photographers working today.
“Phatasmagoria” brings together a stunning retrospective of Sanges’ most surreal and dreamlike black and white photography alongside collaborations with Agent Provocateur, large scale prints, and a unique, site-specific installation.Atmosphere, composition, scenes, models and sumptuous monochromes impose with taste Sanges cinematic influence. Each image could be a press still of a surreal movie or a silent film noir of the 20’s. Part of the artist’s work reminds me also of the rich and gloomy aesthetics of Kubrick.

Sanges creates images and we, spectators, dream the rest …At Proud Camden, a place that has already been highly recommended in a SpaceopraImage post, “Phantasmagoria” will be a new opportunity for the public to enjoy or discover the work of Marco Sanges. This exhibition is part of the dynamics that Proud Galleries are spreading since 1998: offering to a wider audience an outstanding selection of photographs in legendary spaces of the British capital.
